Trysports Hockey Sticks

Please read these notes carefully as the life of your stick
will depend on how well it is looked after.

Due to the changing nature of the game and the increase in the number of games being played on sand filled artificial turf pitches, the care of a stick by its owner has never been more important. Major brand hockey manufacturers guarantee their sticks to withstand normal usage and provide good value for money, bearing in mind that all sticks will develop some degree of wear and that the customer will make reasonable efforts to correctly care for and maintain their sticks.

STICK WEAR - All sticks wear, whether composite or wooden, but composite sticks must be especially looked after. To prolong the life of any stick, we recommend you use Stick Magic. This when used correctly & regularly will reduce wear.

STORAGE - After a game or training session it is vital that the stick is left to dry naturally - i.e. standing head down, at room temperature away from any unnatural heat source. If the stick is stored in a hot dry place the wood is likely to become dry and brittle and more prone to splitting. Wet or damp sticks must not be left in a stickbag or car boot etc. as this damages the wood causing flaking, particularly to laminated sticks.

TAPING - To prevent chipping of the shaft, we recommend you apply a shrink wrap or tape the lower 4'' to 5'' with cloth tape. This firstly reduces the damage caused by stick clashes & secondly helps cushion the ball on receiving & thus improves control.

OILING - It is easier to over oil than under oil your stick. It is important not to over oil hockey sticks because this softens the wood and adds weight. Sticks should be oiled infrequently or not at all depending on use.

GRIPS - Grips are an important part to your game. A quality grip helps your hitting and reduces shock through the stick. High grade PU grips are less durable than cheaper, harder grips, but help improve performance.

If these guidelines are followed and you look after your stick, then there is no reason not to get good durability from it. If they are not, then there really is no comeback.
